Shurpali

Brief History Of The Kshetra (Sthala Puranam):

This temple is located on the bank of river Krishna. Lord Laksmi Narasimha is kuladaivam for most of the people. Shurpa means(mora) cleaning vessels. One of the sages, devotee of lord, he use to do annadanam everyday. One crucial night he was not even having a piece of grain. Then he prayed lord Narasimha. Lord instructed that devotee, that made him to swim to the middle of the river. There he got the blessings from goddess Laxmi. He got a shurpa(mora) filled with grains. Lord Lakshminarasimha blessed his devotee in this kind. Lord Shiva and many Yaksha Gandharva sages are still doing there tapasya it seems.
