Chagaletti

Brief History Of The Kshetra (Sthala Puranam):

This temple’s history starts with King Kempe Gowda. Once upon a time, there was a big lake situated here. The meaning of Chagaletti (Chakavalu) is washer men’s colony. Deity of Narasimha was installed by grama purohith. The servants of Kingdom of Raja kempegowda stayed in this place. Everyday one cow was feeding the milk on snake house. This was observed by a servant and made him angry. He took a stick and beat the cow. The broken wooden pieces fell into the snakes house.
