“Paarivettai” A Grand Event performed at Ahobilam temple on the eve of Makara Sankranti 2017.
This is a yearly pooja done on the eve of Makara Sankranti at the temple premises
with the belief of Lord Narsimha and Goddess Chenculakshmi’s marriageHappening.
Usually devotees from within the 32 villages surrounding the Ahobilam temple perform vratam for 41 days starting on Makara Sankaranti.
On Makara Sankranti, Narasimha Homa is performed and the sacred yellow
Thread is tied in the wrist of devotees wearing the sacred yellow dhoti and tulasi
maala on commencement of the vratham. The kalyanotsva of the lord and goddess is
performed by the chief priest after the completion of the vratham by the devotees.
The belief is that Lord Narasimha fulfils the devotee’s wishes instantly whoever adorns
the Holy Vratham.
